Phillip Alvarado Gomez, age 85 and a former resident of Seminole County, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Golden Rule Nursing Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate, and pallbearers are David Berglund, Mike Berglund, Joe Berglund, Alex Merchain, George Merchain, and Jeff Ware. Phillip was born on August 12, 1928 in Fullerton, California to Solomae Gomez and Gomacinda (Alvarado) Gomez. He married Wanda Odom in September, 1967, and he worked on the assembly line for Ford Motor Company. He was of the Catholic faith, and he loved to play baseball with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Odom) Gomez of the home in Asher, Oklahoma; eight sons, Jack Gomez and Monty Gomez, both of California, Michael Berglund of Konawa, Oklahoma, Craig Berglund of Florida, David Berglund of Asher, Oklahoma, Joe Berglund of Seminole, Oklahoma, Carlos Rojas of California, and Bubba Gomez of Asher; three daughters, Annette Gomez of California, Michele Gomez of Ada, Oklahoma, and Kile Ann Gomez of Asher; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomae and Gomacinda Gomez; one daughter, Gomacinda Gomez; two brothers, and two sisters.
