Phil as he was known to all departed this life on 31 January 2022 at 6:18 PM while in the SSM Saint Anthony’s Hospital-Shawnee with friends and staff near his side.
Philip was born the 6th of April 1946, in Akron, Summit County, Ohio to Paul Howard Haslett and Mary Kate (Young) Haslett. He attended Schools in Akron; Mason Elementary, Goodrich Junior High School, and East High School graduating in 1964. He then attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio.
In 1965 he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Upon Discharge He returned to Akron, Ohio and entered an apprenticeship in the Tool and Die industry.
In 1970 he met and married Sheila Thorn and to this union was born daughter Renee, and sons Edwin, Daniel, and Anton.
In 1975, the family moved to East Springfield, Pennsylvania again furthering his career in the Tool and Die industry. During this time he owned and operated a mobile home park.
1985 the family moved to High Point, North Carolina, again working in the tool and die industry.
In 1996, Phil moved to Wichita, Kansas and was working in a machine shop that was purchased by the Georg Fischer Central Plastics Corporation in 1998 and the company was moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma. This was a special tool and die operation with specialty molds. Phil worked there with great satisfaction for 25 years.
Phil had a very great career in the Tool and Die industry and was always on the forefront of innovation.
Philip joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in about 1973 and was very active in the Church holding many positions and meeting the needs of many during his life.
Phil’s interests were in woodworking and wood finishing, music and reading, but his greatest interest was in friends and helping people. He loved to visit with friends and strangers and rendering needed assistance to all.
This is evidenced by his Special Love for the past 20 years, wherein He ministered on a weekly basis to the inmates of several Oklahoma State Prisons, the Mabel Bassett and John H Lilley facilities. His services were greatly appreciated by the inmates.
Philip is survived by his brother, Mark and wife Sue of Branson, Missouri; his sister, Martha and husband Rev. Don Booth of Englewood, Ohio.
Children: Renee, Edwin, Daniel, Anton, 4 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many friends and associates.
Viewing for Phil will be from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8 at Swearingen Funeral Home.
The Funeral will be 9 February 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Seminole Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; 2500 John Street (corner Hwy 9 and John St). Interment will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.
