Phil Wright

Phil “ Gary” Wright, 67, Shawnee resident died October 31, 2011 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Gary was born January 18, 1944 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Melvin and Arvzene (Casey) Wright. Gary came to Shawnee 34 years ago from Chandler, Oklahoma. Gary was an electrical contractor and worked for the Shawnee Housing Authority, he later retired from working at the Commercial Brick Corporation in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Gary enjoyed doing things and helping people, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and helped his family and his wife at Benton Café with repairs and many capacities there. Gary was married to Nancy (Benton) Wright for 32 years; they were married June 16, 1979 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Gary is survived by his wife Nancy Wright of Shawnee, Oklahoma, three sons; Tony Wright, Tyler Wright both of Shawnee, and step-son, Jim Wingfield of Shawnee, Oklahoma and three step-daughters Sherry Wingfield of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Genie Glasgow of Wanette, Oklahoma and Katie Goodman of Claremore, Oklahoma and numerous cousins and other family members. His parents and a brother Jerry Paul Wright preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Sharon Baptist Church at 19002 South Gordon Cooper Drive. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery West of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
