Lelah “Phern” (Morris) Frair, age 89, a former long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Her death comes only one day after her son, Victor Frair’s death. A double memorial graveside service for Phern and Victor will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22nd, at Hannah Cemetery near Dustin, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa, Oklahoma Phern was born on May 21, 1920, in Madill, Oklahoma, to Edgar Lee Morris and Viola Faye Morris. She married Lawrence Frair on October 12, 1943, in Arkansas. Phern worked as a bookkeeper. She has spent the last three years at the Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher where she was given an abundance of love. She had eighty-nine wonderful years with her family and will be dearly missed. She leaves behind one sister, Mary Burchett of Topock, Arizona; one son, Tinker Frair of Loyal, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Pearline & Tommy Sanders of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Stephanie Sanders of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter, Megan Frair of Enid, Oklahoma; and one great-grandson, Zachary Wright of Watonga, Oklahoma; many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lawrence Frair; one son, Victor Frair, whom passed away just the day before; two brothers, Melvis E. Morris and Pete Morris; and her parents, Viola and Edgar L. Morris.
