Peter “Pete” Rose, 73 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, departed peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Pete was born January 29, 1944 in Wilhelmshaven, Germany to parents Gustaf Rose and Zille Rose. When Pete was 18 he joined the merchant marines. Later in the 1960’s Pete was sponsored by a church in Philadelphia to come to the United States. Pete later traveled to California and while there he had many adventures. He was involved in a German Club in Anaheim, California where he served as “Hufmarshall of Ceremonies”. Pete loved to fish, skydive and travel. He also restored old cars and had earned many first place trophies at car shows. Pete worked in California in auto collision and auto body repair for many years, working for Eddie’s Body and Paint in California prior to retirement. Pete had many hobbies from model trains to steam engines. He was an excellent cook who loved to entertain family and friends. Pete made friends wherever he went and was always the life of the party. He will dearly be missed by all who knew him. Pete is survived by his former wife, Eveline Rose Waddell of Tennessee; one son, Peter Rose II and his wife Stacey of Nashville, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren, Justin Rose, Karley Rose, Peter Rose III, all of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, Lother Rose of Germany; one sister Ellen Colesman of Germany; his dear companion, Rosemarie Adams of the home; Rosemarie’s children, son and daughter-in-law, Billy Adams and his wife Kiley, their son, Kyle Adams and daughter, Brittnee Crowl and her daughter, Preslee Jade Crowl; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph Adams and his wife Amy and their daughter, Raymie Adams, daughter, Taylor Vanlandingham and her husband Michael, and their twin daughters, Vera and Heidi Vanlandingham; daughter, Petra Thurman and her son, Joshua Briley; lifelong friends, Hanz Drechsler, Dieter and Edith Bohn, Giesla and Bob Kelley, Patti Campbell, Jim and Peggy Sorrell, Bob and Kay Azlin; and a host of other family and dear friends. Pete is preceded in death by his parents Gustaf and Zille Rose, by one brother, Gierhart Rose and by one daughter, Linda Rose. A Celebration of Pete’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service.
