Paul Howard Smith

Paul Howard Smith, 75, longtime Seminole resident, passed away, Friday, April 12, 2019 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Paul was born on September 17, 1943 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Loran M. Smith and Annie (Yoder) Smith. Paul moved to Seminole in 1969. Paul grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma and graduated from Chickasha High School. Paul was a loan officer and after retirement from the banking business, he began a career as a private process server. Paul was a longtime faithful member of the Church of Christ at Seminole, Oklahoma, past member of the Seminole Rotary Club, where he was secretary/treasurer for several years, the Seminole Jaycees, was a volunteer for Community Action and served on the board of directors. Paul was one of the original members of the Seminole Auxiliary Police Department in 1973, serving as radio dispatcher, and also served as an auxiliary deputy sheriff under Sheriff Charles Sisco. Paul loved to travel and loved all the bus tours that he and Betty took. Paul had an extensive collection of antique phones and business cards of all types. Paul was a big fan of The Andy Griffith Show and Madea movies, he also enjoyed all the cats he had over the years. Above all else Paul enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. Paul married Betty (McBroom) Smith on August 31, 1963 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Betty Smith of Seminole, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Kevin Taylor of Seminole, Oklahoma, grandsons Drew Taylor and his wife  Kayla of Seminole, Oklahoma and Collin Taylor and his wife Korey of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his great- grandson Halston; his sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and J.D. Cash of Centerville, Ohio, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Sue and Carl Sanders of Yukon, Oklahoma, two nephews, one niece and many friends and his church family. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sister. Paul’s wishes were to have a graveside service for his final goodbye.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Arpoika Daniels officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Paul's memory to Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole or Hope Harbor Children's Home in Claremore, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
