Otto Claud Carter, Jr., age 86 of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28th, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Phillip Mullins and Mark Streetman will officiate. Pallbearers are Philip Khoury, Stephen Khoury, Donnie Roberts, Lance Bowman, Ernie Herriman, and Jeremy Herriman. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Mays, Marvin Patterson, Arnold Robertson, and Bill Rains. Otto was born on November 29, 1922, in Jenks, Oklahoma, to Otto M. Carter and Mary Etta (Funderburk) Carter. He married Lorena Pearl Sutton, the love of his life for sixty-six years, on January 13, 1943, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Otto moved to Konawa in 1941 and worked as an oilfield pumper. He was a charter member of the Vamoosa Baptist Church and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Konawa since 1960. Otto was a proud veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Lorena Carter of the home; one son, Bob Carter and wife, Linda of Ada; two daughters, Glenda Moon and husband, Joe of Ada, and Gayla Branscum and husband, Ronnie of Konawa; seven grandchildren, Philip Khoury and wife, Missy of Konawa, Lori Roberts and husband, Donnie of Ada, Stephen Khoury and wife, Shannan of Sherman, Texas, Kim Morse of Ada, Amy Bowman and husband, Lance of Duncan, Sarah Herriman and husband, Ernie of Konawa, and Scott Burton and wife, Katy of Kingfisher; and fifteen great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Danielle, Brie, Chris, Lauren, Carter, Katherine, Rebecca, Riley, Jeremy, Dusty, Kaylee, Gracie, Katerina, and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mary Carter; two brothers, Robert and Floyd Carter; three sisters, Cora Wilfong, Opal Klaus, and Dorothy Ewing.
