Oscar Gillespie, 84-year-old longtime Seminole County resident passed from this life September 24, 2008 at his home. He was born September 10, 1924 in Ryan, Oklahoma to parents Doc G. Gillespie and Ruby Bell (Barker) Gillespie. Oscar moved to Seminole 65 years ago from Idabel, Oklahoma.rnrnMr. Gillespie married his wife of almost 60 years, Pheba Ellen (Kane) Gillespie on August 10, 1944 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2004. rnrnOscar was a self employed rancher and machinery dealer and was a member of the Temple of Praise Pentecostal Church Of God in Seminole. He loved God and Family. He was a storyteller and those who knew him and loved him will miss his many stories.rnrnSurvivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis James Gillespie and his wife Norma, ?Buzz? Gillespie and his wife Charlotte and Billy Frank Gillespie and his wife Annie all of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law; Auttis ?Auttie? Johnson and her husband Butch of Seminole, Oklahoma and Barbara Harris and her husband Dan of Springhill, Florida; one brother, Richard Gillespie of Eufaula, Oklahoma; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Hazel Fowler of Wichita Falls, Texas and Mary Auttis Fisher and her husband Denzil of Cabot, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends.rnrnHis parents, his wife, and one granddaughter Jennifer Gillespie precede Mr. Gillespie in death.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Temple of Praise Pentecostal Church Of God in Seminole. Rev. Harold Turner will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.rnrnCasket Bearers will be; Robert Johnson, Travis Gillespie, Clay Gillespie, James Johnson, Billy Johnson and Garrett McCoy. Honorary Bearer will be; Erin Gillespie.rnrnFuneral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home ? Seminole, Oklahoma.
