Orvel M. Malone

Orvel M. Malone, 77, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Integris Seminole Medical Center in Seminole. He was born September 9, 1933 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Lawrence Edward and Mabel Inez (Burkes) Malone. Orvel was a former Seminole County Commissioner for District # 2 from 1996-2004), prior to that he was a mechanic for Phillips Petroleum for 23 years and 18 years for Seminole County. Orvel is a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole, a member of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce and served his country in the U.S. Army as a supply sergeant from 1951-1954. Orvel grew up in Wetumka, Oklahoma and graduated from Wetumka High School and later after living in Borger, Texas for several years came back to Seminole in 1979. He married Peggy Gibson on May 24, 1957 in Wetumka, Oklahoma and they have been married for 54 years. His wife Peggy Malone Seminole, Oklahoma, survives Orvel, Two daughters Sharon Lepik of Seminole, Oklahoma and Ladonna Norman of Seminole, Oklahoma, a brother Edward Malone of Borger, Texas and three sisters Louise Meeks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Wanda Shaw of Wetumka, Oklahoma and Donna Phillips of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma also survive him. Two grandchildren Rachael Lee and Christina Norman both of Ada, Oklahoma and two great grandchildren Jasie Lee and Tylar Lee survive him. Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M., Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Church of Christ at 4200 Hwy #99 North in Seminole. Burial will follow at the Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Arpoika Daniels will officiate at the service. Casket bearers will be Tommy Mills, Jim Hardin, Jack Mattingly, Stacey Kinsey, John Seifried, and Tim Anderson. Honorary bearers will be Henry Baxter and Terrel Britt. The casket will be open for viewing at the Swearingen Funeral Home and will not be open at the church during funeral services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
