Opal Loudermilk, Longtime Maud resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 90.rnrnShe was born on December 14, 1918 in Glenpool, Oklahoma to John and Myrtle (Crabtree) Driscall.rnrnShe married Herbert Lee Loudermilk on September 16, 1939 in Norman, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2007 after 68 years of marriage.rnrnOpal was an outstanding lady in her community always willing to help anyone in need. She was a loving caregiver to many, especially her late husband, Herbert.rnrnOpal loved visiting the Seminole Estates Nursing Home, residents, especially her good friend Jimmie Hurst. They would visit for hours and enjoy church services and singing together in the lobby.rnrnOpal loved riding to church where she was a member at the United Pentecostal Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma with her dear friend Gaye Etheridge. They loved each other dearly and shared many happy times together. Eating lunch together and sharing a banana split was special.rnrnMost of all, Opal was known for her million dollar Mandarin Orange Cakes that she baked for so many. A few days ago she told her daughter, ?no more cakes.?rnrnOne of her grandchildren wrote in a card to Opal, ?you are an amazing woman and we love you,? this feeling is shared by all of her family and friends. Opal had been very lonely the last year since her husband Herbert passed away. She was tired and ready to go be with the Lord and her loved ones. We will miss her but we are thankful she is at rest.rnrnShe leaves to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and David Hurst of Houston, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Amos Lee Loudermilk of Maud, Oklahoma, Bill and his wife Bobbie Loudermilk of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Tommy and his wife Sue Loudermilk of Mounds, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Tony Hurst, Tim Hurst, Lezlea Creason, Jason Loudermilk, Ryan Loudermilk, Ashlea Loudermilk, Kathey Gaulding, Jennifer Charania, Dale Loudermilk and Brandon Loudermilk; 21 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the People's Church in Maud with Vance Bowman and Roy Moss officiating.
