Opal Marie Criswell, 66 Opal Marie Criswell, life long Seminole resident passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at her residence, at the age of 66. Opal was born February 22, 1948 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents, David A. Cole and Faye Neoma (Griffin) Cole. Opal grew up in the Seminole area and graduated from New Lima High School. After her high school graduation, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from East Central College of Ada, Oklahoma. She was a 3rd grade teacher at Varnum Elementary School. She married J. Ted Criswell, December 7, 1977. She was of the Baptist faith. Opal is survived by, her husband of 37 years, Ted Criswell of the home; two daughters, Shelly Wood and her husband Thom of Seminole, Oklahoma, Melanie Madden and her husband Jay of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Allyson Madden, Kayleigh Wood, Morgan Madden, Hannah Madden, Kaleb Wood, Jacob Madden and Kyle Wood. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, David and Faye Cole and two brothers, David Lee Cole and Charles Cole. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Seminole, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
