Wilma Swanson Olivia Wilma (Kennedy) Swanson, 83, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center. Wilma was born October 29, 1927 in Mildred, Kansas to W.E. and Olivia (Hays) Kennedy. Wilma attended and graduated from Chase High School in Chase, Kansas. She was married to Max A. Swanson Sr. on May 9, 1945 in Lyons, Kansas; they were married for over 61 years at the time of his death in November of 2006. Wilma was a homemaker, and had a passion for crossword puzzles. She was a faithful, longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole, where she taught Sunday school in the children’s department for many years during the 1950’s. She was also a member of the U.M.W.(United Methodist Women) of the Methodist Church. Wilma’s life centered on her home and her church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She possessed a caring, giving heart and was always willing to help others. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Max Swanson, Jr. and Brenda Swanson of Seminole, Oklahoma. A daughter of Olivia Swanson of Grapevine, Texas. Her grandsons Cale Swanson and his wife Deanna of Seminole, Oklahoma, Zane Swanson of Winter Park, Colorado and Brian Swanson of Seminole all survive her. She is also survived by two sisters Nadine Potts and Lorraine Livingston. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and her husband Max A. Swanson, Sr. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Rev. Gary Wilburn will officiate the service.
