Nova Helen Woody

Nova Helen Woody, 90 Nova Helen Woody, longtime resident of Seminole passed away Friday, January 29, 2010,at her home with family by her side. Nova was born January 17, 1920, in Fox, Arkansas, to parents John W. and Marth Ann (Kendall) Branscum. Nova married Harvey H. Woody, December 18, 1946 in Chandler, Oklahoma. Harvey preceded Nova in death on July 7, 2006. Nova was a homemaker. She owned and operated Woody’s Quick Lunch (across from Roosevelt School), a shoe store and a beauty shop. Nova was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole. Nova is survived by: Granddaughters; Nova Dawn (Sheppard) Bivens of Shreveport, Louisiana, Michelle (Sheppard) Simmons, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Four great-grandchildren: Lindsey Granados of Cary, North Carolina, Grant Bivens of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jessie Simmons of Kilgore, Texas and Jamaie Simmons of Kilgore, Texas and one great-great grandchild, Jordan Simmons of Kilgore, Texas. Nova was preceded in death by: Parents; John and Marth Ann Branscum, Husband; Harvey “Woody” Woody and Daughter; Wanda Lee Sheppard on March 30, 2000. Funeral services for Nova will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Russell Vicars officiating. Interment will be at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole. Serving as casket bearers: John Bivens, Grant Bivens, Ian Granados, Ron Sheppard, Lester Merrill and J.D. Branscum.
