Norman Carpenter

Seminole resident Norman H. Carpenter passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009 in Seminole at the age of 88. rnrnHe was born on December 1, 1920 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Edward Lewis and Allie (Booth) Carpenter. rnrnNorman graduated from New Lima High School in 1939 and attended Seminole Jr. College, East Central State College and Oklahoma Baptist University. He served in the United States Army Air Corp. from 1942 until 1945 where he earned the rank of Corporal. He was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole for many years. rnrnHe married Lillian Louise (Reynolds) on December 31, 1942 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2008. They lived in Ulysses, Kansas for 27 years, from 1961 to 1988, then they returned to Seminole. rnrnHe leaves to cherish his memories two sons and a daughter-in-law: Don Carpenter and Rusty and Allison Carpenter of Norman, Oklahoma, one sister, Edna Gilbert of Bakersfield, California. rnrnHe is also survived by three grandchildren: Bret Carpenter, Dustin and his wife Avery Carpenter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Nicole and Brandon Stanford of Norman, Oklahoma, three great grandchildren: Braxton and Rylee Carpenter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Elysia Stanford of Norman, Oklahoma as well as a host of other family and dear friends.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, 420 Reid Street with Dr. Tommy Clark and Russell Vicars officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma.rnrnPallbearers will be: Ron Sosbee, Ernie Willis, Ken Green, Neil Craig, Robert Foxx, Bruce Coates and James Hayes.rnrnHonorary Bearers will be: GW Pool, David Forson, Somer Jones and Winfred Tinsley. rnrnThe family has designated the First Baptist Chruch, Falls Creek Fund as appropriate for memorial donations, ?In Memory of Norman Carpenter? ? 420 Reid Street, Seminole, Oklahoma 74868rnrn Funeral Information: March 29, 2009, 10:30 AM
