Norma Jean (Northcott) Rice

July 14, 1927 — August 21, 2020

Norma "Jean" Rice passed away on August 21, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas where she had resided for 7 years. She was born in Seminole County on July 14, 1927 to parents Eugene and Maida (Collier) Northcott. She married William C. (Bill) Rice in Yuma, Arizona on September 22, 1946. They raised their daughters in Wewoka. Jean worked for more than 8 years as secretary to the Superintendent of the Wewoka Public Schools. She and Bill moved to Seminole and several years later to Shawnee. She most enjoyed decorating her home, but also enjoyed oil painting and crafts. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bill on June 4, 2013; her parents Eugene and Maida Northcott; her brothers Archie Northcott, Stanford Northcott, Freeman Northcott, Don Northcott, and Gene Northcott; sisters Edith Plemons, Francis Melton, and Joy Stephens. She is survived by daughters Linda Montgomery and husband Mike of Fort Worth, Texas; Cheryl Yacone and husband Frank of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren Michael Montgomery, Krystal Kerner, and Tony Yacone; four great grandchildren; sister Pat Ward of Ada; and many nieces and nephews. On August 26, 2020, after a private service because of Covid 19, Jean was laid to rest next to her husband in Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee. Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
