Norma Lee Casteel

Norma Lee (Baker) Casteel, 88 year old, lifelong Seminole County resident, passed from this life on October 30, 2012 at Sienna Care and Rehabilitation Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was born August 6, 1924, in Bowlegs, Oklahoma to parents Albert Aaron Baker and Della Mae (Robb) Baker. On May 20, 1939, Norma married Orval Casteel at the Earlsboro Junction, east of Shawnee. In 1966, Norma completed LPN training. Her career began at Mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee. Later she retired from Shawnee Regional Hospital (St. Anthony's) also in Shawnee. Norma is survived by three daughters and sons-in-laws, Dorothy and Royce Davis of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Patricia and James Fowler of Plano, Texas, and Kathy and Rick Crosby of Choctaw, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Jeanette Casteel of Harrison, Arkansas; one son-in-law, Cecil Bergsten of Shawnee, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, and twenty six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends. Norma was preceded in death by; her father, Albert Baker; her mother, Della (Robb) Baker; her husband, Orval Casteel; one daughter, Mary Bergsten; three half-brothers, Chester Blaylock, Lloyd Blaylock, and John Byford. She was also preceded in death by two half-sisters, Rosa Ring, and Renolda Willis and by two great-grandsons, Cole Crosby and Andrew Bergsten. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Dr. Scott Fenton, Meadows Baptist Church, Plano, Texas officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, located north of Seminole on Hwy. 377. The casket will remain open until service time and will not be open following the service. Casket bearers will be: Joseph Fowler, Murphy Crosby, John Davis, Donald Collins, Steve Bergsten, David Bergsten. Honorary bearers will be: Jim Kanske, James Pfeffer, Martin Harter, Ozzie Jenison, Royce Davis, James Fowler, Rick Crosby, Lucas Casteel, and Cecil Bergsten. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. The family has asked that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
