Noel Wilson

Noel Eugene “Gene” Wilson, 84, longtime Seminole resident, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Noel was born December 5, 1931 in Hazel, Oklahoma to Lewis T. Wilson and Sarah Ann (Sanders) Wilson. Shortly after high school, Gene joined and served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955 and had served in Sendai, Japan. While in the service he was able to visit many other countries. Gene was retired from Canadian Valley Electric Co-Op where he had worked for 36 years. He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the CVEC family. He loved being outdoors and farmed his 165 acres every day in Asher, Oklahoma till he became ill and was no longer able. He loved telling stories about his cows and the turkey and deer that he would see on his land. Gene enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to be outdoorsmen, shooting guns, fishing and hunting and not to forget how to farm, girls included. While his children were growing up he would take them on camping adventures every weekend, making sure the truck was loaded and ready to go. Gene was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He had deer heads and horns all over the house. Gene was a plain and simple man always in his blue jeans overalls and white T-shirt. He loved gardening and would always find him on his tractor. “He is now sitting pretty on a green John Deere Tractor up in Heaven”. Gene will be missed and loved by all who knew him. He married the love of his life, Irma Florence (Haigwood) Wilson on February 18, 1954. To this union Gene and Florence had four children, Boyd Wilson of Seminole, Deloris Wilson Underwood of Seminole, Brenda Wilson Soule and her husband Randy of Seminole, and Bryan Wilson and his wife Janet of Seminole, seven grandchildren Derrick and Rachel Underwood, Matthew and Kristen Underwood, Cassy Underwood, Nicholas Underwood, Austin Wilson, Ashley Soule and her boyfriend Branden Cox, Amber Soule and Fiance’ Timothy Gilbert, six great grandchildren, great niece Bobbi Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence on October 13, 1988, two sisters Willie Faye Turnbow and Rose Ann (Aunt Doll) and one brother Pat Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kevin Cortez, Bryan Wilson, Derrick Underwood, Matthew Underwood, Nicholas Underwood and Austin Wilson. Honorary bearers will be Randy Soule and Billy Brown.
