Nick Silas

June 6, 1957 — March 30, 2018

Nicholas Ray “Nick” Silas, 60 year old Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life to eternal life on March 30, 2018 in Odessa Texas.  He was born June 6, 1957 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Barbara (Garner) Silas and Kenneth Silas. Nick moved with his family to Maud, Oklahoma when he was four years old.  He graduated from Maud High School in 1975. Nick had several jobs throughout his life from working in the Oklahoma oilfields to being a self-employed entrepreneur.  He most recently partnered with his son to own and operate “S&S Hotshot” which transported oilfield equipment. Nick had coached several ball teams at the little league level.  Nick had also been a dedicated member of the Maud Fire Auxiliary for 30 years.  He also served on the Maud School Board and was a member of the Maud Round-up Club, where he was very proud of winning the Bull Riding Contest, “Claiming he won because he was too afraid to let go.”  Nick was a hardworking man who was fun loving and a wonderful father and grandfather.  To know Nick was to love him. Nick attended church at Trinity Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma. Nick leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Barbara Garner of Prague, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Ronnie Silas and his wife Diane of Saint Louis, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Tammy (Silas) Shultz and her husband Brad of Prague, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, Kadee (Silas) Harrell and her husband Bruce of Maud, Oklahoma; 1 son, Tanner Silas and his wife Courtney of Maud, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Makaylee Harrell, Trayson Harrell, Alexis Silas, Paityn Silas and Ava Silas.  Nieces and nephews, Quitha Patterson, Chance Silas and Megan Murray; and a host of other family and dear friends. Nick was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Silas and by one niece, Jennifer Shultz. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Maud High School Gymnasium with Bro. Butch Bradley and Tom Jackson officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: Tanner Silas, Ronnie Silas, Bruce Harrell, Darryl Ledbetter, Jackie Gamble, Billy Presley, Scott Presley and Wesley Childs. Honorary Bearers will be: Jason Friedman, Erick Hilton, Travis Palmer, Chad Presley, Mason Meadows, Matt Peters, Daniel Peters, Colby Carpenter and Joe Ray Milburn. The family has requested donations in Memory of Nick Silas be sent to the Maud Fire Department at P.O. Box 217 Maud, Oklahoma 74854.
