Nathan Eugene "Gene" Guinn

Nathan Eugene "Gene" Guinn, age 73 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away at his home Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in the company of the family he dearly loved. Cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, and a “Celebration of Life” will be held at the family home in Konawa on Thursday, March 5th. Gene entered this world on December 14, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma.  His parents are Leo Eugene Guinn and Mary Mae (Jensen) Guinn.  He married Mary Lou Cox on June 30, 1967 in Vernal, Utah.  He graduated from Utah State University.  Gene had one life-long career, providing for his family.  He held many jobs during his life from saddle making to underground mining (that one, lasted one week) ending with his last and longest, Environmental Health Scientist for the State of Utah.  He was a member of the Catholic Church, and he loved hunting, fishing, working with his cattle, and watching all types of sports.  He was an accomplished fisherman and hunter.  Mary, his wife says, “He was also a birth control device tester (with some failures, notably Angela Dawn Guinn and Edward Garrison Guinn).”                                  Those who knew Gene can attest to his irreverent sense of humor, his love of life, and a firm understanding of what was important - the simplicity of living a life with those you love. He is survived by his wife, Mary Guinn of the home; one son, Edward Guinn of Konawa; one daughter, Angela Guinn of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Jimmy Ray Guinn and wife, Colleen of Vernal, Utah and Robert Charles Guinn and wife, Annie of Vernal, Utah; one sister, Neatha Kay Johnston and husband, Joseph of Salt Lake City, Utah; and one grandchild, Shyann Marie Guinn.                         He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mary Guinn; and his grandparents, Wiley, and Ethel Guinn.
