Naomi Sue Rankin, 87, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, died Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sue was born January 22, 1930 in Bixby, Oklahoma to Richard Albert Evans and Thelma Kathryn (Earp) Evans. She grew up in the Bixby area and graduated from Kinta, Oklahoma High School. Sue married J. Howard Rankin on July 10, 1949 in Crescent, Oklahoma. Howard preceded her in death on December 22, 2012. Sue moved to Seminole in 1949 and later to Mississippi from 1961 to 1965 when she and Howard moved to Portland, Texas. They moved back to Seminole in 1977 where she has lived since. Sue was a longtime member of the Seminole Church of Christ. She was an artist and loved to paint pictures. She had worked in San Diego, California during World War II and later for the Boy Scouts of America in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but was mainly a loving housewife. She is survived by her son Dale Rankin of Padre Island, Corpus Christi, Texas, one sister Kay Cox of Kinta, Oklahoma, two sisters-in-law, Jerry Bodkin of Maud, Oklahoma and Alene Saulsbury of Drumright, Oklahoma, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Rankin, and a brother Richard Evans, Jr. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Church of Christ at 12040 Highway 99 North in Seminole, Oklahoma with Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
