On January 8, 1954, Nancy gave birth to her and Lawrence’s only son, Larry Edward Snowden. Nancy was heartbroken when Larry passed away on April 2, 2012. On Saturday, July 25, the Lord finally granted Nancy’s wish to be with Larry in Heaven. She is having a celebration in Heaven.
Her parents taught her to have faith in God and look for the good in everyone. Nancy was a member of Highway Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.
Nancy said her proudest and happiest moments in life were her salvation, childhood, marriage, her son and her grandchildren. She wanted her grandchildren to know she loved them very much and always wanted them to be happy.
Nancy moved to Strother, Oklahoma when she was 14. She graduated from Strother High School and then married Lawrence. She always wanted to be a teacher, but her parents couldn’t afford to send her to college. Nancy started to college at the age of 30 and graduated from East Central University in Ada with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education on May 26, 1966. She achieved her dream of being a teacher at age 33 and was hired as an elementary teacher at her hometown of Strother. She retired from teaching in 1985 after 25 years. She was a member of OEA.
Nancy loved cooking for Lawrence and almost everything they ate was homemade. She enjoyed doing things with her hands like sewing, crocheting and embroidery.
