Nadine B. (Harjo) King, age 70, passed away on December 19, 2020 at her home in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born April 24, 1950 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Otis B. Harjo and Nelsey B. (Fixico) Harjo. She grew up in the Little Community and graduated from Strother High School. She married John King in Seminole on June 23, 1982.
Nadine worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aid and a CMA. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and going to the casino. She was full of laughter and had a loving heart. Nadine was a member of the Creek Nation of Oklahoma and she was adamant about her girls learning their tribal traditional ways and language.
Left to cherish Nadine’s memory are her daughters; Nadia King and Andrea Mason of Seminole, Oklahoma, Nellissa Lena of Norman, Oklahoma and Sonya King Johns of Hollywood, Florida, sisters; Angie Butler of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Judy Butler of Hanna, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Nelsey Wheeler, Mya Wheeler, William Murdock, Drew Lena, Faith Lena Dominique Lena, Jacab Lena, Kristi Johns, Toby Johns and Ryan Johns and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John King and her grandparents Nelsey and Otis Harjo.
Nadine will be taken to the Harjo residence on Monday, December 21, 2020 and will remain there until the funeral.
The funeral service for Nadine will be at 1:00 p.m., December 23, 2020 at the Harjo residence with Bill Merrit officiating. Burial will follow at Harjo Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Wilson Yargee, Edward Robinson, James McClemore, Muskogee Yargee, Alexander Yargee and YuFkee Barnett. Honorary bearers will be A.J. Brown, Ellis Little, Chebon Little, Geof Little and Joey Wolf.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
