Myrtle Hope Marie (Becks) Martin, 95, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at her home in Seminole. Myrtle was born December 17, 1918 in Picher, Oklahoma to Mary Nancy (Stamper) and William Earl Becks. Myrtle moved to the Seminole area at an early age from Quapaw, Oklahoma. Myrtle was a former member of the Ladies Home Demonstration Group-Butner School in the 1950’s. She loved cooking, sewing, and gardening. Myrtle was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole. She was an Audio-Visural Aid /Title 1 at Roosevelt School in Seminole and retired in 1978. Myrtle is survived by two sons, Don Martin of Seminole, Oklahoma and Wade Martin of Wichita, Kansas. Her grandchildren, Mary Elizibeth Richter, Martin David Kyle, Rosie Youngblood, Michelle K. Toilolo and Paula Eileen Eka, eleven great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Martin, on August 13, 1970. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Church of Christ on Hwy 99N, in Seminole, Oklahoma with Chris Stinnett officiating, assisted by Palmer Smith. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kal Toilolo, Tony Eka, James Lee Martin-Toilolo, Winford Lemons, Steve Johnson, David Kyle and Kenny Brewer. Honorary bearers will be Cecil Sullivan, Syd Morgan, Arpoika Daniels, Dan Reynolds, Ryan Christ, Steve Lashley, Jack Cadenhead, Bill McDonald and Clint Jackson. The family would like to say a special thank you to her church family at the Church of Christ in Seminole, Medical personnel of Seminole Integris Hospital, Midwest City Regional Hospital, Colonial Estates Nursing Home, Shawnee, Oklahoma, St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Seminole Family Medical Clinic, Butner High School Alumni Association and Loving Care Home Health and Hospice Care.
