Manuel Phagan (M.P.) Gillham, Atoka resident, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020, in Antlers, Oklahoma. M. P. was born on April 1, 1924, in Cedar Glades, AR to Stella Rosetta (Ratliff) and Thomas Phagan Gillham. He was a graduate of Wolf High School and worked as OG&E’s first underground lineman. He also served in the United States Army during WWII, in England, France, Germany and Austria.
M. P. married Susie Corsaut on June 1, 1948 in Snowmack, OK. He was a musician and played guitar and fiddle. M. P. enjoyed tinkering with things, fishing and beagles. He was also a man of faith and spent time reading the bible.
M. P. is survived by his wife, Susie Gillham of the home; sons and spouses, Phillip Phagan and Rita Gillham of Howe, OK and James Joseph and Mary Gillham of Atoka, OK; daughter and spouse, Mary Ellen and Benny Boatman of Tahlequah, OK; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
M. P. was preceded in death by his parents, son, Thomas Henry Gillham and siblings, Austin, Ed, Marcus, Maggie, Vivian, Etta, Eula Faye, Epsie, Bessie and Silvia.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Wolf Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
