Monty Pearson

Wewoka – Monty Lee Pearson was born November 7, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma to parents Lloyd Lee Pearson and Bessie Faye Wilson (Finley).  Monty passed away on April 4, 2014.  He married Joella Jones Pearson on January 12, 1957.  He served in the United States Navy from 1956-1960.  After many moves between California and Oklahoma, he settled with his family in Oklahoma in 1980.  Monty is known throughout the world for Pearson’s Stripping Knives, a dog grooming tool he created in 1970.  Monty is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joella, and four daughters: Pamela Pearson of California, Nancy Gettinger of California, Penny Rucker of Shawnee, and Melinda Isaacs of Ada, three wonderful sons in law:  Robin Rucker, Alan Isaacs, and Dale Gettinger. He is also survived by eight grandchildren:  Christina Pearson of Oregon, Amanda Kalkanis of California, Monty Davilla U.S. Navy in Washington,  Riley Davilla U.S. Navy of Oklahoma City, Makenna Heliker of California, August Brown U.S. Air Force in Utah, Jett McDowell U.S. Air Force in San Antonio, and Gabriel Isaacs of Oklahoma, two great grandsons Nicky Heliker of California, Juliette and Colette Kalkanis of California and Dominic Davilla of Washington, three brothers:  Jerry Pearson of Texas, Jim Fiorito of California, and Lloyd Pearson of Kansas, three sisters Gloria Pearson of Oklahoma, Joni Burley of Alaska, and Niki Harding of California, and stepmother Phyllis Pearson of Oklahoma.  Monty is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd, and his mother, Bessie Wilson and his brother Dennis Pearson. He was a member of the Assembly of God in Wewoka.  Services will be private, but cards may be sent to Swearingen Funeral Home 1001 N. Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole, Ok 74868.
