Minnie Doolen

July 27, 1925 — August 27, 2010

Minnie Edna (Fowler) Doolen, 85 year-old, former Seminole County resident passed from this life August 27, 2010 at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born July 27, 1925 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Moody Daniel Fowler and Frances Arrabelle (Lucas) Fowler.  She grew up in Wolf, Oklahoma and graduated from Wolf High School in 1942.  During WWII, she and her family moved to Long Beach, California where she worked in a defense plant as a welder and riveter.  When she returned to Oklahoma, Minnie married A.J. Doolen on November 1, 1946 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  She worked as a general equipment examiner at Tinker Air Force Base for 25 years; she received several commendations for excellent performance.  Being an avid basketball fan, Minnie’s favorite time of year was March Madness.  Even the experts seldom beat her yearly bracket.  She was thrilled when the NBA brought Thunder basketball to Oklahoma City. Survivors include her sister, Audrey Roberts of Wolf, Oklahoma; one son, Mark Doolen and his wife, Shelly of Edmond, Oklahoma; two daughters, Darlene Pagonis and husband, Nick of Oklahoma City and Tina Johnson and her husband, Danny of Seminole, Oklahoma; she was Granny to 6 grandchildren, Marci Williams, Christy Doolen and her husband Tim Hicks, Dr. John Pagonis, Kacy Abney and her husband Jeremy, Linsy Ingmire and her husband Nathan, and Trevor Doolen; she was especially proud of her 7 great-grandchildren, A.J. Barron, Grayson Williams, Colton Ingmire, Raice Abney, Quinn Hicks, Kasper Hicks, and Lilly Ingmire; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Rodgers and husband Wayne, and Janice Ross and her husband Jimmy, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband A.J. Doolen died January 31, 1985; four brothers, Burvle Fowler, Woodrow Fowler, M.D. Fowler, and John Fowler; one sister, Margie Elliott.  Minnie was a wonderful provider for her family and was always supportive and available in a crisis.  Whether you knew her as Minnie, Mother, Granny, or Aunt Minnie, she will be greatly missed. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.  Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery with Rev. Ben Linker and Rev. Stacy Ross officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Casket Bearers will be: Roger Lancaster, Chuck Lancaster, Danny Stafford, Bill Davis, Mike Roddy, Tim Roddy, Shawn Roddy, Kelly Roddy, Shannon Ross, Rob Doolen, Andy Doolen, Stacy Ross, Phillip Fowler and Jimmy Fowler.
