Milton Wayne Vogt

Milton Wayne Vogt, M.D., age 80 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter, Lee Ann Duck. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21st at the First United Methodist Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Konawa, will officiate. Milton was born on February 8, 1931 in Corn, Oklahoma to Mennonite Missionaries, Jacob Willard Vogt and Martha (Wiens) Vogt.  He was the fourth of five boys. He attended Hillsboro High School and Tabor College. Graduated in 1956 with his doctor of medicine from the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of the “Pride” marching band.  He practiced general medicine in Konawa from 1961 to 2011.  He was the football team doctor in Konawa and Savanna and served as Seminole County Medical Examiner for many years. He was appointed as Medical Director at Oklahoma State Department of Corrections at McAlester and retired his practice in March of 2011.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Konawa.  He married Ann Lee Cochran in May 30, 1954 in Liberal, Kansas.  He later married Glenda Estes on April 23, 1976 in Konawa, OK. He is survived by Glenda Vogt of Savanna, Oklahoma, one brother, Dr. Harold Vogt and wife June of Wichita, Kansas; three sons, Wayne Vogt and wife Deja of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Michael Vogt and wife Helen of Norman, Oklahoma, and Keith Estes of Bethany, Oklahoma; three daughters Lee Ann Duck and husband Gary of Konawa, Lisa Lee and husband Roger of Ames, Iowa, and Malyn Crandall and husband Jason of Yukon, Oklahoma;  12 grandchildren Tim Duck, Mark and Jenni Duck, Scott Duck, Jacob Vogt, Sarah, Abigail, Jonathan and Rachel Lee, Brittany Benson , Christopher Estes and Madison Estes; and four great grand children, Jesse and Sadie Duck, and Skylie and Stormie Benson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Martha Vogt; three brothers, Vernon, Cornelius, Eugene; and one daughter, Lynda Vogt Foster.
