Mildred L. Smith

Mildred Lorraine Smith, 87, Asher, Oklahoma resident, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mildred was born on February 11, 1930 to Frank David Duncan and Gladius Gertrude (George) Duncan. Mildred married William Howard Smith on May 19, 1945 in Cement, Oklahoma and together they raised seven children. Mr. Smith died on June 6, 2008. Mildred was a homemaker and loved her cats and her two dogs, Buddy and Rascal. She loved gardening, canning vegetables and was still canning up until her death. She enjoyed growing rose bushes, reading, sewing, embroidering, loved going to town to shop weekly, raising her chickens, garage sales and shopping. She dearly loved her family, telling stories about each one and made sure that the family got together on Thanksgiving and Christmas to enjoy each other. She loved her friends and neighbors and always made gifts and cakes for them. Mildred is survived by her children; sons; Anthony Smith and his wife Phyllis of Stratford, Oklahoma, Boyd Smith of Macomb, Oklahoma and Garry Smith of Asher, Oklahoma, her daughters Joyce McMillian  and Patricia Covey, both of Konawa, Oklahoma, Bonnie Grant and her husband Gary of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Christina Lancaster of Ada, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Louis Anthony Smith, Jr, Tony and Lori Pack, Jerry Don and Pam Pack, Chris and Scarlet Pack, Jim and Diane McMillian, Mike and Kim McMillian, Shane and Phyllis McMillian, Deliliah McMillian, Mona and David Ridley, Edward Seal, Bear Seal, Brandy Smith, Kelly Smith, Dennis Smith, Lisa and Justin Helton, William Grant and his wife Jamie, Joe “ Logan” Lancaster and William Bodie Lancaster ,nineteen great grandchildren and thirteen great greatgrandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Howard Smith, her son Billy Lee Smith, granddaughter Katrina Wall, great granddaughter Heather Renee Smith, Daughter-in-law Melody Smith and son-in-law Dan McMillian. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma, with burial at the Konawa City Cemetery, west of Konawa, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Tony Pack, Jerry Don Pack, Chris Pack, Dennis Smith, William Grant and David Ridley. Honorary bearer will be Louis Anthony Smith, Jr. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa, Oklahoma.
