Mildred Evelyn Jones

Mildred Evelyn Jones, 90, died Monday, September 5, 2016 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Mildred was born January 4, 1926 to William J. Melton and Lennie (Owens) Melton. Mildred moved to Seminole from Maud, Oklahoma 70 years ago. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole. Mildred worked for many years at Oklahoma Tire and Supply and Arkla Gas before working at the City of Seminole Water Office for over 20 years. Mildred loved life, family, people and especially children. She loved and was married to a great guy, Somer Jones, for 70 years. They were married on October 23, 1944 in Bainbridge, Georgia. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed hearing a good joke, and really enjoyed telling one. She would have conversations with complete strangers just like they were old friends. With the birth of Juliana Johnson in Tyler, Texas, last October, she again celebrated participating in  “ five living generation ” for the third time in her life.  She loved life and was loved so much by all who knew her. Mildred is survived by two sons; Bruce Jones and his wife Carol of Seminole, Oklahoma and Mike Jones of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her brother-in-law, Keith Inman, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Greg Johnson of Ruston, Louisiana, Michael and Rachel Ann Jones, of Ruston, Louisiana, Jeff and Sonya Jones of Lyons, Georgia and Sam Jones of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Great Grandchildren; Justin and Jessica Johnson of Tyler, Texas, Colby Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Destiny Jones and Dalton Jones all of Ruston, Louisiana, Kendal and McKenzie of Lyons, Georgia and great-greatgrandchild Juliana Page Johnson of Tyler, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Somer Jones, who died on August 23, 2014 and her sister Charlotte Inman and her brother Jack Melton. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 9, 2016 at 2:00 P.M., at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Larry Inman officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends and family at a visitation on Thursday Evening, September 8, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Casket bearers will be Michael Jones, Jeff Jones, Sam Jones, Roger Inman, Floyd Griffin and Colby Johnson.
