Mildred Louise Harjo

December 9, 1950 — March 22, 2024

Earlsboro resident, Mildred Louise Harjo, died Friday, March 22, 2024, at her home, at the age of 73.

Mildred, the daughter of Samsochee and Imogene (Little) Harjo, was born December 9, 1950, in Seminole County.  She graduated high school at Strother High School and then attended Seminole State College where she received her associate degree in nursing.  She used that degree to become an LPN.  Mildred was also in the ministry.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, cleaning, and singing, and she was a homemaker who always took great care of her family.  Mildred always made sure that no one went hungry, she was always happy to cook for whoever needed it.  She was a proud member of the Seminole Nation, a pastor, nurse, a UMW leader, Sunday School teacher, and Seminole Nation Band Chief.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Alice Jackson, Lula Harjo, Sandra Ranae Harjo, and Channon Rae Harjo; and brother, Percy Dean Harjo; nephews Isaiah Harjo, Eric Harjo, and Cody Harjo; and a great niece, Donnell Carter.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Imogene Pohlemann, of Earlsboro; sisters, Delois Harjo, of Earlsboro, and Samantha Harjo, of Oklahoma City; brothers, Bruce Harjo, of Shawnee, and Nathaniel Harjo, of Seminole; and many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers are: Jonathan Harjo, Jospeh Harjo, Echo Johnson, Jorum Johnson, Aneas English, and nephews, Pete Harjo, Allen Jackson, Sam Harjo, and Jacob Harjo.

Wake service will be Monday 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. at Hitchitee Methodist Church.

Services will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Hitchitee Methodist Church, with Mike Svitak, Rick Deer and Abraham Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow at Hitchitee Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
