Michael James Yarbrough

Michael James Yarbrough, Wewoka resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 in Seminole, OK.  Michael was born on August 5, 1958, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to James Allen Yarbrough and Alice (West) Tiger.  He was a “jack of all trades” and worked in construction.  He truly enjoyed carpentry.

Michael married Carolyn Wood on November 18, 2011 at Bethold Res. In North Dakota.  He was a natural helper and would do anything he could to help anyone in need.  It was said he would give one the shirt off his back to help someone.  Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special bond with his nephew, Chris Welch.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn Yarbrough; six sons, Marc Yarbrough, Damion Gokey, Aries Gokey, Darrell Gokey, Damion Gokey and Michael Dale Longhat; five daughters, Deidre Yarbrough, Catrina Geikaunmah, Kristi Fixico, Tosha Gokey and Sandy Gokey; two brothers, Woodrow West and James Yarbrough; seven sisters, Tracy Burkhart, Sharon Thomas, Tammie West, Carolyn West, Laura Faye Wilson, Regina Essery and Tina Yarbrough; grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Eric Yarbrough.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Woodrow West, Christon Welch, Matt Welch, Nathan Silva, Aries Gokey, Waylon Burkhart and Dominic Coker.

Honorary casket bearers will be John Wood, Tim Wood, Buddy Wood and grandsons.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Burial will follow at West Family Cemetery in Wolf, Oklahoma.
