Melvin Ray Plumlee, 78 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home in Seminole County, Oklahoma. He was born December 10, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Charles Afton “Charlie” Plumlee and Lillian (Willis) Plumlee. Melvin went on to earn his bachelor’s degree and he also served in the United States Army National Guard. Melvin worked in the oilfield for the majority of his life as a “mud engineer”. Survivors include three sons, Thor Plumlee and his wife Matilda of Amite, Louisiana, Toby Plumlee of Bridgeport, Alabama, and Chris Plumlee and his wife Sara of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister, Betty (Plumlee) Wilson and her husband Jim of Mountain Home, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Lillian Plumlee; by his first wife, Sheila Gay Montgomery who died in 1989; by his second wife, Torild Plumlee who died in 2010; one brother, Ronald Plumlee; by two sisters, Mary “Beth” Plumlee, and his twin sister, Shirley Plumlee. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Military Honors. Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service.
