Melvin Meril (Davis) Burkhart, 92, longtime Seminole resident, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born March 24, 1925, in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma to Charlie Davis and Lulu Ann (McFarland) Davis. Melvin and her husband Bert Burkhart owned and operated the Circle B Chuckwagon Steakhouse south of Seminole for many years. They also started and operated the Red Rooster Restaurant and the La Loma Mexican Restaurant in Seminole. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Seminole, Oklahoma. She will always be remembered as a person who enjoyed people and being with them. Melvin married Bert Burkhart in Seminole, Oklahoma in 1945, he preceded her in death. She is survived by her 5 sons; Bert Burkhart of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jerry Burkhart of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Douglas Burkhart and Michael Burkhart both of Seminole, Oklahoma and Ronald Burkhart of Pearl City, Hawaii.; 2 bothers Benson Davis of Black Gum, Oklahoma and Raymond Davis of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and one sister Mary Collins of Black Gum, Oklahoma and 25 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bert, son Eugene Wayne Burkhart and a granddaughter Michele (Shelly) Lapatch. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma with David Long, officiating.
