Melba Lee Rumsey, 87 Long time Seminole resident Melba Lee Rumsey passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 87. Melba was born on July 8, 1925 in Missouri to parents, Grover Ellison and Ora “Harden” Ellison. She moved to Seminole, Oklahoma from Bakersfield, Missouri, 75 years ago. Melba was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Seminole, Oklahoma. She married Melford Leon Rumsey on February 1, 1947 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Melford preceded her in death on July 27, 2011. Melba and her husband owned many local businesses including the Dairy Boy from which she retired. Melba is survived by two sons; Tommy Rumsey of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Keith Rumsey of Eufaula, Oklahoma; one daughter, Kathryn Dawson of Seminole, Oklahoma. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Melba was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melford, great grandson, Ethan Marsh, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Little Chapel with Mark Hennen officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers are: Eric Meek, Blake Dawson, Kent Dawson, Sam Marsh and Mike Ellison. Services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
