M.D. Fowler

M.D. Fowler, Jr., 89 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Unity Health Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  He was born October 6, 1919 in Oklahoma to parents, Mood Daniel Fowler, Sr. and Francis Arabelle (Lucas) Fowler. M.D. married Minnie Bee Williams on November 22, 1939 at Pumkin Center near Maud, Oklahoma.  She preceded him in death on September 17, 1997. M.D. had served in the United States Army during World War II and had worked in the oilfield most of his life.  He was a roughneck and a driller retiring from O.F. Drilling Company several years ago.  He was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma. Mr. Fowler leaves to cherish his memory one son, Phil Fowler of Maud, Oklahoma; one daughter, Aloma Rosamond of Weatherford, Oklahoma; a special friend, Agnes DePriest of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, John Fowler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Audry Roberts of Wolf, Oklahoma and Minnie Dolen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Frank Rosamond, Jr. and his wife Li-Jin of Arlington, Virginia, Michael Rosamond and his wife Sybil of California, Tammy Rosamond of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Phyllis Fowler of Kemp, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Kathrina Rosamond, Christopher Rosamond, Teresa Rosamond, Kent Harmon and Amanda Fowler; he is also survived by a host of other dear family and friends. Mr. Fowler is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Minnie Fowler; two brothers, Woodrow and Burvle Fowler; one sister, Margie Elliott; one grandson, Daniel Roy Fowler; and by his son-in-law, Frank Rosamond who died in 2001. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma.  Glen Williams will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Wolf Cemetery.
