Max Leonard Waller

August 30, 1942 — April 7, 2022

Seminole

Max Leonard Waller, Seminole resident, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Max was born on August 30, 1942, in Konawa, Oklahoma to Leonard Lewis Waller and Thelma Faye (Vance) Ramey.  He graduated from Seminole High School where he served as FFA president.  He spent his youth playing football and riding horses.  He attended Murray State College.

Max married Lavina Kay King on August 31, 1963 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They lived in Hennessey, OK for one year and he worked in the oilfield.  They then moved to Choctaw, OK and he worked as a plumber and carpenter.  Max was drafted into the United States Army and served for two years.  He was stationed in Alaska during the Vietnam War.  He loved to rodeo with his wife, Kay and it was their favorite pastime.  They moved to Seminole in 1978 and raised their children on the ranch they bought.  The best times were working cattle (always a great story there) and getting together with friends and teaching the boys how to bulldog steers.  Max loved to watch the grandkids at their sporting events and going to the Ranch Rodeo and farm show every year. Max was a rancher, team roper and a bull fighter.  He enjoyed catching cattle for people with Gene Richardson.  When each grandchild turned 2 he made them a rope and spurs.

Max is survived by two sons, Lyle Waller and wife, Dina of Wewoka and Les Waller and wife, Misty of Wewoka; daughter, Laciona LeMay and husband, Tony of Seminole; two sisters, Nancy Oliver of Anthony, KS and Penny Ordway and husband, Tom of Fountain Valley, CA; nine   grandchildren, London Waller, Ty LeMay, Toby LeMay, Kaylee LeMay, Laken Waller, Lauryn Waller, Lawson Waller, Dylan Saremi and Jordyn Saremi.

Max was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Faye Ramey; father, Leonard Lewis Waller and step-father, OD Ramey.

Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
