Mattie Ponder

Long-time Seminole resident, Mattie Elizabeth (Roberts) Ponder left this earth to be with her Lord on, Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Mattie was born January 11, 1918, in Dustin, Oklahoma to Calvin and Mammie (Clayborn) Roberts.  She married Thomas “Clay” Ponder on February 20, 1940 in Okemah, Oklahoma. They moved to Seminole 25 years ago from Abilene, Texas. Clay preceded her in death on December 19, 2010. Mattie and Clay were married for 70 years. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Mitchell D. Ponder of Clackamas, Oregon and Ronnie L. Ponder of North Carolina; one daughter, Joy D. Huza of Breaksville, Ohio; two brothers, Paul Roberts and Willard Roberts both of Henryetta, Oklahoma; one sister, Sybil Roberts; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one grandson.
