Mattie “Carolyn” (Campbell) Johnson, age 82 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, surrounded by her family and friends at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mike Cox will officiate, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Jody Johnson, Jordon Garner, Jacob Garner, Dylan Fry, Darrel Walker, and Paul Campbell, Jr. Carolyn was born June 26, 1936, in Hazel, Oklahoma, to Calvin Campbell and Mattie (Shirley) Campbell. She was raised by her grandparents, Monroe and Lilly Campbell. She attended grade school in Hazel, Oklahoma, and is a 1954 graduate of Konawa High School. She attended the First Baptist Church of Konawa. She married Stanley Johnson on January 20, 1956, in Konawa. She worked at Sylvania in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and she served as Harvest Queen in 1956. In 1958, Stanley and Carolyn purchased the Konawa Feed Mill and operated it until they sold the mill in 1968. Carolyn was an artist and enjoyed doing ceramics, oil painting, china painting, doing stained glass, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Most people in the area probably have something that Carolyn has made. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Johnson of the home; one son, Mickey Johnson and wife, JoAnn of Konawa; one daughter, Ronda Garner and husband, Gordon of Konawa; four grandchildren, LaDawna “Punkin” Fry and husband, Steven; Jody Johnson and wife, Julie, Jordon Garner and Kleo Aquino, and Jacob Garner and wife, Racheal; three great grandchildren, Ashley Fry, Dylan Fry, and Sevy Johnson; two that she considered her own, Darrel Mackey and Rick Stevenson; three sisters-in-law, Yvonne Walker, Audrey Campbell, and Faye Campbell; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Mattie Campbell; three brothers, Pete, Paul, and Sherman Campbell, and one sister.
