Mary Jo Windle (Vance) Tuttle

Mary “Jo” (Vance) Windle Tuttle, age 84 and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at OU Medical Center in Edmond, Oklahoma. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16th at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Jo was born on June 14, 1926 in Konawa, Oklahoma, to Calvin S. and Mary Lou (Jenks) Vance.  She graduated from Konawa High School, and she married Louis George Windle on June 2, 1944 in Konawa.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Hefner Oil Company.  Jo was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ.  She played the violin and loved music and loved dancing. In 1939, Louis “Louie” Windle came to the farm of Calvin and Mary Vance.  Mary Jo was only 13 then, but she thought he was cute.  When she was 15, he told her that he’d be back to marry her after she graduated.  (He went to the Army Air Corp in 1941.)  After the war, they married, and Mary Jo and Louie also ran a dairy in Konawa. She is survived by one daughter, Lu Ann Tuttle and husband, David of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Marcille Schwab of Oklahoma City, three grandchildren, Tiffany, Anthony, and Jeremy; and four great grandchildren, Terra, Hayley, Levi, and Marayha. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Mary Lou Vance; her husband, Louis Windle on June 5, 1980; her second husband, Leon Tuttle in April of 1977; one daughter, Lori Lee Shattuck on June 4, 1997; and two sisters, Faye Ramey and Dixie Rogers.
