Mary Sue (Brooks) Jones

Mary Sue (Brooks) Jones, age 86 a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away October 26, 2024 at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Oklahoma.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.

Mary was born February 20, 1938 in Hazel, Oklahoma to Granville Lewis Brooks and Celeste Elizabeth (Smith) Brooks. She graduated from Konawa High School, and she was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of God of Konawa. Mary worked for many years as the Deli Manager for Streetman’s Grocery Store in Konawa. She loved singing and playing the guitar, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two special nephews that she help to raise as her own, Chip Melton and wife, Norma of Konawa, and Jason Melton and wife, Brooklyn of Asher, Oklahoma; three sisters, Annie Manning of Thackerville, Oklahoma, Barbara Jones and husband, Leroy of Gilmer, Texas, and Bonnie Melton and husband, Freddie of Konawa; special great nieces and great nephews, Preslee Benard, Reece Melton, Mandi Phillips, Rylee Melton, Gable Melton, Juston Melton, Magi Melton, and Finley Melton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jones; her parents, Lewis and Celeste Brooks; one sister, Betty Jones, and three brothers, Charles, Billy, and John Brooks.
