Mary Palmer

Mary Alma (Collins) Palmer, 83 year-old, former Seminole resident passed from this life on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Colonial Estates Care Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Mary was born July 3, 1929 in Snowmac, Oklahoma (just south of Seminole, Oklahoma) to parents Minnie Maybelle (King) and Buford Yeager. Mary met and later married Marland Davis Palmer, Sr. on December 14, 1945 in Maud, Oklahoma.  She went on to earn her x-ray technician degree from Southwest State University and worked for Seminole Municipal Hospital in Seminole, Oklahoma and later at Morton County General Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas until her retirement in 1987.  Sadly her husband of 48 years preceded her in death in January of 1993. Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart, Kansas.  She moved back to Seminole County in 2003 from El Reno, Oklahoma where she had been caring for her niece who had brain cancer. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Marland Palmer, Jr. and his wife Dianna of Maud, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mary Gee of Prague, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Donna Lou Harrington of Washington State; three half brothers, Morris Yeager of Tennessee, James Yeager of Maud, Oklahoma, Glen Yeager of California; four grandsons, Rev. James T. Benedict and his wife Freda, Gerald Doyle and his wife Christy, Alex Semkoff, David Palmer; five great granddaughters; four great-great grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marland Davis Palmer, Sr. who died in January of 1993; one brother, Clinton Eugene Collins; and by one sister, Helen Maybelle Harris. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 4:00 P.M., along with her son Marland Davis Palmer, Jr., Rev. Glen Pence will officiate at the service.
