Mary Muncy

Mary Garnett (Wingate) Muncy, 89 year-old, Seminole resident passed from this life Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Norman Regional Hospital.  She was born July 4, 1921 in Kingstree, South Carolina to parents Jessie Ruston “J.R.” Wingate and Myrtie (Driggers) Wingate. Mary moved to Seminole in 1968 from California.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include three sons, Bud Conyers of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert “Preston” Conyers and Herbert “Peewee” Conyers both of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters, Ann Cogburn of Garland, Texas and Barbara Jean Nelson of Seminole, Oklahoma; three brothers, John Wingate, Jimmy Wingate and Olan Wingate all of South Carolina; one sister, Ethel Spradley of South Carolina; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tommy Wingate and Jessie Wingate, Jr.; one sister, Katie Jowers; one great-granddaughter, Misty Smith Ladely; and by one great-grandson, Dennis Joe Wolf. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Mary’s brothers Jimmy and Olan Wingate will officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
