Mary Evelyn Kiesel, long time Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away Thursday September 6, 2018 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 85. Mary was born December 3, 1932 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to parents, Thomas Vernon Leggett and Ruby Jaunita (Quimby) Leggett. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1951. Mary married Jack Kiesel on April 12, 1951 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and they eventually moved to Seminole, Oklahoma. They had been married for 54 years when Jack passed away on October 22, 2005. Mary loved reading, fishing and cooking. She was a homemaker who loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. Mary’s main goal in life was to support her family. She was active in the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, Band Booster Club member, Seminole Tiny Chiefs member, Seminole High School Booster Club while working at Seminole Drug and as an Avon Lady. For many years she was employed at C R Anthony and eventually started selling vegetables at a stand at her home. Mary is survived by two sons, Ronald Kiesel of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Mike Kiesel of Seminole, Oklahoma and her grandchildren; Christy Freeman, Seminole, Oklahoma, Ryan Kiesel and his wife Allison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Paige Ledbetter and her husband Chris of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Amy Goostree and her husband Brian of Seminole, Oklahoma, Kimberly Holt and her husband Jared of Luther, Oklahoma and Emily Rothell and her husband Robert of Ada, Oklahoma; 12 great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ruby Leggett; her husband Jack Kiesel and one son, Jack Kiesel, Jr. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Watson officiating.
