Mary Jones

Mary Jones, 71 year-old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Monday, September 20, 2010 at Baptist Integris Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born January 27, 1939 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Roy Owens and Dorothy Marie (Chaney) Owens. Mary Madeline (Owens) Jones grew up in the Tecumseh area attending Tecumseh Schools.  She was of the Baptist Faith and had attended the Tecumseh Freewill Baptist Church. Mary later managed the Redding Square Apartments in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She has managed the Seminole Courtyard Apartments for over 20 years. Mary leaves to cherish her memory one son, Allen Washburn of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Allen of Seminole, Oklahoma and Sue Barkley and her husband Dion of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, Roy Owens of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister, Loretta Thompkins of Seminole, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jarred Allen, Christy Lee, Caitlin Barkley and Trace Washburn; three great-grandchildren, Cody Dougan, Tyler Armitage and Hanna Lee; and a host of other family and dear friends. Mary is preceded in death by her father, Roy L. Owens and by her mother, Dorothy Marie (Chaney) Owens Johnson. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 24, 2010 at Tecumseh Mission Cemetery in Tecumseh, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
