Mary Alice “Pat” Jackson, 69, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident, passed away, Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mary was born June 11, 1949 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Samsochee Harjo and Imogene (Little) Harjo. Mary was a tribal member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Mary worked as a teacher’s aide at Oklahoma City Public Schools and Ponca City Public Schools for several years and worked at Wal-Mart as an associate in the Toy Department from 1986 to 1992, she had worked in several different cities for Wal-Mart. Mary was an active member of the Seminole Nation, she currently served as Tribal Election Board Secretary. She was a member of the Hitchittee Methodist Church northeast of Seminole and was a OU sports and Thunder Basketball fan. She was most proud that she attended Strother Schools from, first grade to her graduation as a senior at Strother High School, she also was an All-Star Basketball player during her high school years. Mary married Abraham Jackson on September 19, 1969 at the Hitchittee Methodist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. Mary is survived by her husband of 49 plus years, Abraham Jackson of Shawnee, Oklahoma, her son Allen Jackson and wife, Josetta Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma, her daughter Jacquelyn Hyslope and her husband Billy of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Chuckma Johnson, she raised as her own daughter, brothers; Percy and Julie Harjo of Antlers, Oklahoma, Bruce and Gail Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Nathaniel and Jackie Harjo of Seminole, Oklahoma, sisters; Mildred Harjo of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Delois Harjo of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, Renae Larney and Travis Larney of Seminole, Oklahoma, Nellie Roughface of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Teresa and Evan Wise of Meeker, Oklahoma, her Aunts Bessie Spencer and Juanita Wise both of Seminole, Oklahoma, her grandchildren; Damaris Vasquez, Jeremiah Hyslope, Mallory Hyslope, Todd Hyslope and Ashton Hyslope, Billy Hyslope, Tyee Jackson, Kallen Jackson, Mykel Cole, Larrisa Madewell and Kaleb Fullbright, her great grandchildren Alonso Vasquez, Simon Santos, Yvonne Santos, Titus Hyslope, Skylee Alexander, Riley Hyslope, Jayden Hyslope, Kandace Madewell and Lila-Maree Madewell; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samsochee and Imogene Harjo, sisters, Channon Harjo and Lula Harjo, son, Abraham Jackson, Jr. and nephew Isaiah Harjo. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Seminole Hitchitee Methodist Church, Northeast of Seminole with burial at the Hitchitee Church Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy White and Rev. Mike Svitak will officiate at the funeral service. Mary will be moved to the church on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 4:00 P.M., for a wake service to be held at 7:00 P.M. Casket bearers will be Johnathan Harjo, Joseph Harjo, Pete Wayne Harjo, Echo Johnson, Cody Harjo, Zach Ellis. Honorary bearers will be Jerald Wan, Dave Winandy, Byron English, Randy Larney, Travis Larney and Sam Spencer.
