Mary Ruth (Wanto) Blackwood

Mary Ruth (Wanto) Blackwood, age 86 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa.  Rev. Steve Littrell will officiate, and casket bearers are Shane Blackwood, Joshua Blackwood, and Jesse Blackwood.  Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Mary was born July 30, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Andrew Wanto and Agnes Gertrude (Merry) Wanto.  She received a Master’s degree and was a Registered Nurse.  Mary was a member of the First Methodist Church of Konawa.  She married G.C. Blackwood October 15, 1951 in Elkton, Maryland.  She enjoyed her cats and dogs, and she loved to visit with the ladies at church. She is survived by her son, Roger Blackwood of Norman, Oklahoma, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, David and Timothy Blackwood; one granddaughter, Sally Ruth Blackwood; one brother, Jack Wanto; three sisters, Agnes Lewis, Jeanette McGovern, and Nancy Smith.
