Martin Gilmer Louthan

December 29, 1925 — November 29, 2010

Martin Gilmer Louthan, age 84, and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from congestive heart failure on Monday, November 29, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 301 W. First, in Konawa.  Pastor Pam Shirk will officiate.  Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park located at 6001 NW Grand Blvd. in Oklahoma City.  Pallbearers are Ray Louthan, Mel Louthan, Pat Louthan, Martin Baker, Johnny Rochelle, Darrel Walker, Glen Thomas, and Kevin Wallace. Martin was born on December 29, 1925, to Charles Dunn “Dick” Louthan and Marie (Gilmer) Louthan in Kansas City, Missouri.  He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in August, 1947.  He married Ilma Louise “Jake” Jaquier on June 25, 1946 in Oklahoma City.  Martin worked for OG&E from September 8, 1947 until his retirement in October, 1987.  His work for OG&E took him to power plants in Oklahoma City, Ponca City, Sulphur, and Konawa.  He ended his career as Manager of Power Production and Personnel in Oklahoma City.  He married Janice Adele Brady on June 4, 1988 in Oklahoma City.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa.  He was involved in charities too numerous to mention.  He enjoyed reading, hunting, and OU sports. He is survived by his wife, Janice Adele (Brady) Louthan of the home; four sons, Ray Louthan and wife, Laurie of Weatherford, Texas, Mel Jaquier Louthan and wife, Cindy of Newalla, Oklahoma, Pat Gilmer Louthan and wife, Cheryl of McKinney, Texas, and Martin Baker of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 5 daughters, Martanne “Marty” Louthan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Ginny Thomas and husband, Glen of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Christy Rochelle and husband, Johnny of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Lani Walker and husband, Darrel of Konawa, Oklahoma, and Angie Baker Wallace and husband, Kevin of Wellston, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren, Sarah Earley Smith, Joe Gil Earley, Martin D. Louthan, Jamie L. Louthan, TeAta Sue Rochelle, Taloa Lynn Rochelle, Mishontaumbby Rochelle, Sholi Rochelle Prather, Meagan Walker, Kirsten Walker, Chase Louthan, Kelsey Louthan, “Jake” G. Louthan, Christa L. Louthan, Ashlynn Wallace, Hailey Wallace, Sidney Baker, and Riley Baker;  12 great grandchildren; and one niece, Carmen Jaquier Laage of Concord, Mass. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Marie Louthan and his first wife, Ilma Louise Louthan on March 2, 1981.
