Martha Smith, 75, longtime Seminole resident died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born in Ansbach, Germany on April 11, 1937 to Anton and Katharina (Gunther) Popp. Martha moved to the United States from Germany in 1958 and later to Seminole in 1973. She was a homemaker while her husband Edward Smith was alive. After his death in 1993 she went to work for the Wrangler Corporation here in Seminole, Oklahoma and worked for 9 years. She loved to swim with her friends at Seminole State College; she also loved to go shopping when stores had sales. She married Edward Smith in Asnbach, Germany on November 1, 1957. A brother-in-law, Gunther Held in Germany, and several nieces and nephews and many close friends survive Martha. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Terry Pearce officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma Casket bearers will be Michael Widell, Jeremy McGuire, Patrick Smith, James Smith, Ryan Smith and Colton Smith.
