Marshall Phillips

Funeral services for Marshall Phillips will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Matt Myrick, Brandon Scott, Henry Wells, Jr., Kevin Anderson, Wesley Phillips and Keith Phillips. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Mr. Phillips passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee at the age of 83. He was born April 9, 1931 in Seminole, Oklahoma to John Calvin and Emma Lee (Redding) Phillips. He married Norma Jean (Melton) on January 19, 1952 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Marshall was a truck driver and worked in the greater area oil fields for most of his life.  He was a handyman, collector of “merchandise” and could fix almost anything. He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Norma Jean of the home; one son, Ronald Phillips and his wife Cindy of Seminole; one daughter, Karen Scott and husband Roy of Laurel, MD; one brother, Robert Phillips and his wife Elva of Seminole; one sister, Loretta Smith of Seminole; grandchildren, Shanna and Henry Wells, Ashlee Allen, Brenna and Kevin Anderson, Corey Scott, Wesley and Destiny Phillips, Hollee and Matt Myrick and Brandon Scott; great grandchildren, Alex, Lance, Quentin, Kolby, Jaxson, Angel, Emalee, Kaydee, Bryce, Lillian and Austin and a host of other family and friends. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Phillips; one daughter, Kathy Ryan; three brothers, Clifton, Wayne and Jackie Phillips; two sisters, Betty Belshe and Lena Estep and an infant brother.
