Larry Lane ?Piano Man? aka Maryln Cline Hickerson passed away on July 25, 2008 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center at the age of 82. rnrnHe was born on June 10, 1926 in Seattle, Washington to Viola Effie (Smith) and Myrl Cline Hickerson. rnrnMaryln grew up in Seattle, Washington and moved and played music in Clearwater, Florida until he retired. He was a life member of Musicians Association in Seattle and the Clearwater Musicians Association. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a resident at Seminole Estates Nursing Center where he played the piano to residents there for many years. He was known as the ?Piano Man?. rnrnMarlyn served in the US Army where he began his military career playing music for the troops. At the age of 18 in the year of 1945, while attempting to enlist in the military, Lane was refused entrance because he wore glasses. Feeling the need to do something, he joined the USO Camp Show and went overseas to entertain and lift the spirits of service members. Given the assimilated rank of Captain. Lane played to over 100,455 troops in 125 performances within a 13-week period. Three years later when the draft was enforced, Lane was enlisted glasses and all. He went on to become a WWII Veteran. rnrnHe married Josephine D. Hail on December 18, 1952 in Seattle, Washington; she preceded him in death on November 15, 2000. rnHe is also preceded in death by his parents. rnrnHe is survived by two nephews; Jim and his wife Judi Hallum of Seminole and Eddy Hallum of Wewoka, Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.rnrnGraveside services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Highland Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma with Rev.
